Testing to Industry Standard D2240

With the purchase of a new Rex Gauge Type M Durometer, MEE has expanded its service capabilities for testing to industry standard  ASTM D2240,  Standard Test Method for Rubber Property—Durometer Hardness

The durometer is the international standard for the hardness measurement of rubber, plastic and other non-metallic materials. The Rex Type M durometer can be used when checking materials thinner than 1/4″ (as thin as .050″).

The operating stand we use with the durometer has a dampener which lowers the durometer at the same rate for each test, resulting in superior test repeatability.

Failure Analysis Society

“ASM International (ASM), the world’s largest association of metals-focused materials professionals, has launched a new affiliate society, the Failure Analysis Society (FAS). The society is dedicated to advancing the important role failure analysis plays in the materials science industry.”

Congratulations to MEE Materials Science Engineers Larry Hanke, Ryan Haase, and Dan Grice who have been selected as founding members of the Society.

MEE Greatest Hits

One of our long-time customers recently sent us this image of a tower of CD’s containing project data that he humorously refers to as “MEE’s Greatest Hits: the essential collection.” This is data he has collected over a 10-year period of doing business with MEE and contains mostly SEM images and EDS analysis spectra.

Once upon a time,  images from scanning electron microscopes were printed on Polaroid film. Today we have many ways of sharing project data with our customers: CD’s, flashdrives, emails, or a secure cloud storage account.  Our goal is to get the best quality, most-timely, and consistently-reliable results for our customers. We think this photo is proof of a satisfied customer.
